BALTOPS began in 1971 as a NATO freedom of navigation exercise directed towards the Soviet Union in the Baltic, and it's now a Partnership for Peace interoperability exercise involving former Warsaw Pact adversaries, together with Russia. While his flagship was going into refit, Rear Admiral Daniel P. Holloway was given the duty of supervising Exercise BALTOPS 2008, that passed off from eight to 18 June 2008 (pictured). Holloway used the guided-missile cruiser Gettysburg as his temporary flagship which was joined by two other U.S. On 8 April 2012, the guided-missile destroyer Porter was detached so as to join Combined Task Force 151 for counter-piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden. When deployed overseas, the group comes beneath command of the numbered fleet (i.e., Third, Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, or Seventh) in whose area it's operating, and could have a process force or activity group designator, for example, Task Group 50.1 within the Fifth Fleet area. Thales will also be in charge of making any structural alterations to the vessels in relation to the integration of new programs and gear. In the course of the exercise all the muscles actions shall be monitored and detected by the Myo armband and sent again to the smartphone.
