Love is an experience in which the disjuncture between the infinite subjectivities of two people allows for the construction of a world ‘from the perspective of difference’ and ‘the construction of the truth of the two: the truth that derives from distinction as such’. Beginning with the quasi-metaphysical occasion of the completely contingent encounter, love is the development of a world from a perspective ‘other than that of my mere impulse to survive or re-affirm my own identity’. For Badiou, love is a truth process.
