Yearly, the exercise is held in a different location, often in British Columbia. The 26th MEU served as the first tactical unit for Joint Task Force Liberia throughout Operation Sheltering Sky from August to September 2003 within the Second Liberian Civil War. In 1991 the twenty sixth MEU supported Operation Desert Shield by providing a "Show of Force" within the Mediterranean, and participated in Operation Sharp Edge, a non-combatant evacuation operation of Liberia.
